Hey, Mr. Bill, it has been almost a year and you are still in our hearts and our minds daily.  A lot has happened in the past year--some good, some bad but it all would have been better had you been here with us.  You would be very proud of me--I played in the pool league this year and have gone to all the games.  And, you would be "busting" the buttons off your shirt if you could see Mark's basement which is now complete with kitchen and is offically a game room with a beautiful bar which he built.  You would also be extremely proud of Susan & Ricky's gorgeous new swimming pool.   You would be proud of Betty and how she has kept your wood stove going this winter.  We are proud of Betty--she has had a very rough year and she still misses you tremendously.  She talks to you and asks your help when she makes your Mom's slaw recipe.  I know she never thought she would miss you as much as she does and I'm sure she now realizes just how important you were to her, how much she relied on you, and how much she loved and still loves you.  You said a few times that when you were gone she would soon find someone else--I don't think the thought has even occurred to her.  She and I have often talked about how much you liked wood and have often said we hope you have a big forest and a chain saw up there.  In fact, you would be giving us hell because we still haven't split that stack of wood that you were talking about splitting a little over a year ago.  We are way behind in our chores since our "motivator" is not here.   We all still love you and miss you very much.     

Bill, it is the middle of summer, we have gone through the motions and pursued the plans we had as best as possible, including the cruise to Alaska, but not having you and Betty with us, was a major disappointment.  We thought about you all along the way and you have been toasted more times than you'll ever imagine.  We still can't believe you are lost to us--we still expect you to show up at any moment.  I still have food items in my freezer and cupboards that I bought because you liked them and they were for you to enjoy with us--leg of lamb, kippers, etc.  Betty is having a really hard time dealing with your loss and we try to be there for her as much as possible but I think she misses you even more than she thought she would.   You have some great children and you would be proud of them as you always were.  We all love you very much.    

Well, we went from "Hit the dirt!" to "Drink this Crown Son!" Its been a long time. From all of us here in japan.....you guys take care!

Dad, I was so greatful that I spent your last Birthday with all of your loved ones here at Pool League at your House. AND, not to mention that you were also able to spend my birthday with me 8 days later at my house on pool league nite... Such a nice memory....I also recieved my only birthday card from you, hand delivered by you on my birthday.. I now have that birthday card laminated to last forever...

I love you DAD..  Miss you too!!!
